Apple Watch series 3

I recently bought Apple Watch series 3 gps. But storage capacity is showing as 2.6gb and available as 942mb? I researched and got to know that series 3 gps model has a storage of 8gb ?

The watch uses a lot of that storage space for the watch operating system and keeps a fair bit in reserve for watch updates etc.
