Can I backup my old phone's back up onto a new phone? I have already set up the new phone as a new device and started using it?

You can but you it will erase any data that you added to the new phone and replace it with the data from the backup. See: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support
