My Apple ID is not working to activate Apple TV Chnnels or Apple TV +

I have an Apple TV, 3rd Generation, A1469 and when attempting to view a program the Unit requests that I logon with my Apple ID and password. I insert my login and password>two point authentication dings my IOS devices, that provides a code for the authentication process, but I do not receive get a code screen to input the code and soon , the ATV displays a screen stating that my Apple ID or password are invalid. The Apple ID is valid, otherwise I would not be able to log into this forum and I used the Apple ID and password to log into iCloud.com and iTunes. Could the invalid Apple ID and password be due to the fact that I can not put in the code? I have an older iPad Touch,, where I am unable to put in the code, but it tells mr to re-input my password followed by the code, which allows me to proceed, but using that latter method does not work on the ATV. In most cases on any Apple IOS product, I would perform a reset, but I have never done an ATV reset.

Would anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you in advance

If you have an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) and two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, then you may be asked to type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field. Additionally, there is a time limit, after which the code becomes invalid.

Try this: First enter the characters of your password (do not submit yet), then manually request a new verification code, then append that code to the password (no spaces or other separating characters), and then submit. That should help you get passed the time limit.

Urquhart1244,

Thank you to responding to my issue. I was unable to place the authentication after my password because of my inability to quickly place the code after the password, because as a Stroke Survivor, I am not as fast as I was once was. In addition to my issue, I went further down the ATV window, the ATV asked if I wanted to subscribe to Apple TV, services which I had already subscribed to , after purchasing my new iPhone in January. I called Apple Care and explained my predicament and the Apple Tech said it sounded like the ATV unit needed to be reset. After a couple of steps of signing out/signing in in > reset, in Settings I was able to access my ATV without putting in my Apple ID/Password. I am sure I would have obtained the same end result, using your recommendation and I am really sorry about not being able to accurately perform your procedure.

Thanks again for your help
