iPhone "Hide Alerts" in Messages (Texting App) Keeps Turning On and/or Notifications Keep Getting Silenced

I may have stumbled onto a solution:
Go to the text conversation that keeps getting hidden.
Turn off “Hide Alerts.”
Immediately turn off your phone.
Wait a minute or two then turn your phone back on.
Smart Phones neither have the intelligence nor has the hostility. Hence we need to look at our device settings and the way we synchronise our smart phones with Mac/PC/iCloud and also how careful are we in sharing our sensitive and valuable information with friends and family members.

This is happening to me too, but only with 2 conversations for which I had previously and purposely hid alerts. My intention was to hide alerts temporarily because they were distracting me from a task I needed to focus on. Those conversations now seem to have permanently hidden alerts. I have tried multiple times turning off the “Hide Alerts” switch, but it keeps turning itself back on almost immediately. Very frustrating.
None of it applied to me either. Once the rep decided to take the time to tell me that my phone was neither intelligent or hostile, I didn’t expect any REAL HELP as he seemed to have an immediate focus on being sarcastic. IJS.
None of this applies. I do not share passwords or sensitive payment information or IDs, nor hand my phone over to children, and I certainly did not jailbreak my phone.
I agree. If his job is to be condescending and dismissive he’s due for a raise.
Never mind. It only lasted for about 10 minutes.
