It's not clear to me about the USB-C port on the Magic Keyboard and the port on my iPad Air 4th Generation.

We are warned to never connect USB-C cable between the ports on the Keyboard and the iPad?

The Magic Keyboard doesn't need power?

The Keyboard charges the iPad?

What's it all about, Alfie?

Here's the charging information from the Magic Keyboard Setup Page

Charge your iPad

You can charge your iPad as usual by connecting your USB-C cable to the USB-C port on your iPad. Or you can connect your USB-C cable to the USB-C port on your Magic Keyboard. Your Magic Keyboard doesn't need to be charged.

Find out what to do if your iPad Pro doesn’t charge when it’s connected to your Magic Keyboard.

The USB-C port on Magic Keyboard provides power, but it doesn't transmit data. This means you can't use this port with an input device such as a USB-C mouse. Never connect one end of a USB-C cable to the USB-C port on your iPad and the other end to the USB-C port on your Magic Keyboard.

Hey there artmusic.com,

We'd like to help answer the question about charging your iPad while using a Magic Keyboard.

Your Magic Keyboard does not hold a charge whatsoever, but the port on it does allow you to charge the iPad you're using with it.

You can also charge your iPad through its own charging port, completely ignoring the port on your Magic Keyboard. Either way, your iPad will charge while using the Magic Keyboard.

As outlined in the resource you provided, you should never connect a USB-C cable between the port on your iPad and the port on your Magic Keyboard.

Have a good one!
