2007 Mac Desktop comparable with Logic Pro X and other DAWs

Hello,

I currently own an iMac 2013 or 2014 version which I have been using for my Logic Pro X. It has been slow because the it came with 1.6Ghz and upgrading it, I was told was nearly impossible. I want to know if my Logic Pro X which I have been updating since I got it when it was first released can run effectlvely with a 2007 Mac Desktop with the following specifications

  • 8-core processing - OS X El Capitan, (version 10.11)
  • Apple Mac Pro Desktop 2008 3,1 , 2x 3.0Ghz Xeon QuadCore, 32 GB Ram , 1TeraStorage , ATI Graphics 2600XT - 256 MB .
  • Processor - 2x Quad Core Intel Xeon - 3.0Ghz - 8 Core
  • Memory   - 32 GB Ram
  • Graphic   - ATI Radeon 2600XT - 256 MB
  • Storage - 2 Terabyte ( SATA Hard drive )
  • Os        -  OS X El Capitan

What do I need to be aware of and how do I go about it.

Thank you.

  1. Do you need a mobile Mac or a desktop Mac? No. I have a MacBook Pro for that purpose
  2. How heavy is your Logic Workflow? In terms of regular usage, pretty average. In terms of project weight which is key for me, It is pretty heavy as I have a lot of live instruments and I do a lot of vocal recordings. (Choirs and stuff).
  3. What do you want out of the Mac? I want something that can process things faster without hanging or dragging. Something that can accommodate pressure because I will install a couple of other music production software as well as a bit of video editing too….
