Mac spring cleaning

UNDER INTERNAL In disk utility under my APPLE SSD, there are folders? Starts with “container” then “my user drive”, then under that is another “container”, then another folder showing same “user drive”. DO Ineed the second set of container and user drive or can I delete to streamline my paths. (The 2nd uder drive says data. The first container says disk 1. Im confused. Need help.

i have a OLDER MBPro 15-inch with Big Sur OS.

One volume is the macOS operating system, the other is your files. You need both.

Thank you, that makes it clearer. But the two folders (container and user) are duplicated so that under the main APPLE SSD, I show 2 container folders and 2 user folders, under the one SSD. Can I delete one set of container and user folders. Somehow I feel this is slowing up my system.
