Changing email

When I try to edit my AppleID email a message comes up that the new email is invalid. It is my new email and I have changed most of my contacts. I cannot get help fro Apple

Hi Marg-21,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you are trying to edit your Apple ID but are getting an error message.

Is this an email address that has been used for another Apple ID account, either as the Apple ID or an additional email address? If so, that might be why you are getting this error message. Also, if you try to change your Apple ID to an @iCloud.com address that was created within the past 30 days, you'll have to wait to use this address. Check out Change your Apple ID.

If you log into your Apple ID, is the email address you want to use listed anywhere? Reachable At, Rescue? Notification?

Discovered that what I wanted to change was my Apple ID! I have changed it and wonder whether i can delete the old one. Thank you Leanne_68. Your link was the trigger!

I do not want a cloud email.

I am not sure whether I have registered my ne email for something else Apple related with my phone. I will try the link you sent.

Marg-21,

Have you had a chance to change your Apple ID itself or only changed it within the apps you mentioned? If you need to change the Apple ID, you'll need to use the process in the linked article. Then, you'll be able to sign in to the new Apple ID on all of your devices.
