OK WENT THROUGH THIS LIST...


  • If the app is frozen and unresponsive, choose Apple menu  > Force Quit, select the app in the dialog that appears, then click Force Quit. You may lose unsaved changes.
  • If the app quit, reopen it by clicking Reopen in the dialog that appears.
  • Restart your Mac by choosing Apple menu > Restart.
  • Check the app’s documentation to see whether it’s compatible with your version of macOS.
  • Open another file in the app. There may be a problem with the original file.
  • Check for updates to your software.
  • Disconnect any peripheral devices you just connected (for example, a printer). They may not be compatible with your version of macOS.
  • Uninstall any app plug-ins or enhancements from other manufacturers.
  • If you recently updated the app or macOS, a plug-in or enhancement you installed may no longer be compatible.
  • Diagnose problems with your Mac to learn whether hardware you installed, such as additional memory, is incompatible, improperly installed, or defective.
  • Restart your Mac in safe mode.

GIVE ME SOME TIME BECAUSE I HAVE AN EXTENSION THAT IS CALLED "DAYLITE" - IT RUNS ON MAIL. NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH IT BUT I'M ENGAGING THEM NOW AND I WILL TEST IF IT'S INTERFERING WITH SAVING ATTACHMENTS. NEED TO DO SOME FURTHER TESTING. WILL ADVISE.

We want to help make sure you're able to use macOS Mail as expected.


Have you tried restarting your Mac to see if that helps?


Does this seem to occur with different file attachments?

Are there multiple accounts configured in Mail? Is so does this issue happen with different accounts?


You can test the issue in and out of safe mode as well. We would also recommend making sure you're running the most recent version of macOS compatible with your Mac. Take a look at the steps listed below.

Does this seem to occur with different file attachments? YES I'VE TRIED WITH MS WORD AND ACROBAT AND COMBINATION THEREFORE AND SEEMS TO HAPPEN WITH MORE ATTACHMENTS - 3 OR MORE


Are there multiple accounts configured in Mail? Is so does this issue happen with different accounts? GOOD IDEA I'LL HAVE TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THAT AND TEST IT. RIGHT NOW I'M NOT SURE IT MAY BE I'VE ONLY TRIED ONE.


You can test the issue in and out of safe mode as well. YES - IN SAFE MODE I COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT BUT ONLY HAD A FEW MINUTES SO NOT EXTENSIVELY TESTED - IT DOESN'T DO IT ALL THE TIME BUT I CAN'T IDENTIFY WHEN IT DOES OR WHEN IT DOES NOT EXCEPT IT MOSTLY HAPPENS WITH MORE ATTACHMENTS RATHER THAN ONE.

We would also recommend making sure you're running the most recent version of macOS compatible with your Mac. YES EXCEPT I'M ON CATALINA Take a look at the steps listed below.
