Shut it down or close the lid, which one is better?
Is safe just to close the lid instead to shut it down, which one is better and safer?
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

The easiest thing to do is close the lid and let it sleep. No harm there. In this way you can easily pick up where you let off.
No need to reboot each and every time. If you are traveling or shutting down, I will add it is much more efficient to let the Mac handle all the closing of windows and apps—and choose to let it reopen all apps when you reboot. The Mac is much faster and efficient at this compared to you manually closing and opening every thing.
If you are concerned about security, you can simple use the key short cut Control Command Q before you close the lid, this will lock the user account.
