airdrop on older mac, 2010?

Trying to AirDrop files from older mac (mid-2010 running High Sierra) to newer mac (which I have successfully airdropped with iphone so I know it works). Is the older mac to too old to show up even though there is an AirDrop app in the Finder window?

Airdrop from older mac to new airbook? Is it possible to AirDrop from my old MacBook Pro running El Capitan to my new MacBook Air? I opened AirDrop on the new Mac and selected "search for older Macs", that worked, the computers found each other. However when I try to AirDrop a folder from the old MacBook, the new computer does not receive the notification. Sometimes the attempt just spins waiting for confirmation and other times it said it was declined by the MacBook Air. Thanks.

Airdrop with Catalina lost ability to connect with older MacBook? I use airdrop all the time to transfer files from my iMac to my older MacBook Pro when I am about to travel. Now with my iMac updated to Catalina, I no long have the option to "look for an older Mac" in the Airdrop window on my iMac. Is there a fix for this? I absolutely hate the way Apple makes good still working devices obsolete with their updates, or forces us to use less intuitive interfaces as part of the updates. Catalina is very much a mixed bag in this regard (and in many ways a pain)!

Airdrop will only work reliably on 2012 and later iMacs. Your 2010 is simply too old.
