iMessage issue on iPad mini

We were without power for several days. When we got power back, my iPad mini 4’s iMessages app developed a warning (!). It tells me to sign into my Apple account, which I do. It then says that there is a iMessage Activation error. Repeat.

I can’t clear the error, nor can I delete the message app and reinstall it. Please advise.

If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime


If this continues to happen after reviewing that and it's been over 24 hours since you tried to sign in, then get in touch with Apple Support to get the best assistance going forward.
