Control Center WiFi button not actually turning off

Are there any future plans on fixing the Control Center WiFi button not actually turning off the WiFi?

It feels uncomfortable having to go into Settings to disable the WiFi every time I need to. It's a simple basic function that should be made easily accessible without having to go into Settings like you’d change some important phone configuration.

I hope I draw some awareness at least, as also my friends are complaining about this.

Thank for the reply, to follow up:

I. "never meant to turn off Wi-Fi" - it was meant to turn off the Wifi, until recently that's what it did. Even the macOS turns off the Wifi when you press the turn off wifi button.

II. "There's no real benefit in turning off Wi-Fi entirely" - there is, one huge plus is the battery (which for me it's important, if I want to not always track the battery level and stay as close to home as possible in case I need to recharge the battery again, why would I want to have the wifi on if I already turned on the mobile data while being outside). And, I see you also said that's used for location while turned off, so, that's extra battery drain while I'm outside and I need to have the battery lasting as long as possible....

Secondly, the security, which is a security concern having the wifi always scanning for networks (that's what it does while it's on and not connected).

III. " And having it on, aids in different phone functions including location even if not actually connected to a Wi-Fi network" -Do you want your phone to always track your location? Even when you sleep? Also, when I'm outside the Maps app it's doing a very good only by using the mobile data, great location accuracy, I don't see any reason to put extra weight on the battery for something that's not needed.

IV. It's just simply irritating to have the iOS doing something else than what you're asking it to do.

There is nothing to fix. The switch in control center was never meant to turn off Wi-Fi. Only disconnect you from the currently connected Wi-Fi network until the next day.

That is the way Apple designed it.

If you need to completely turn off Wi-Fi for some reason, which generally is not required for anything really, then yes you need to go into the Settings App to do so.

The option was changed I believe with iOS 12. Its worked that way since

Again, this is the way apple implemented it since then.

Battery usage with Wi-Fi being on, but not connected to a network is almost negligible. less than 1% in a 12 hour period based on different tests.

It's not tracking you constantly. Only when something requires it. And no I don't mind it. Also there are other features that use wi-fi as explained in the link provided above.

If you must have it turned off, then use the option in the Settings App, it's barely 2 more taps to get there and turn it off.
