Why does my apple TV plus say it is expired, expires dec 26, 2021

Apple TV plus says it is expired, expires dec 26, 2021. The subscription is still current but it will not let me in unless we pay again. This is on the TV app and the ipad

Expired subscriptions must have been canceled by the user. Subscriptions canceled during the trial period expire immediately, and the trial period cannot be reactivated.
