Photo Library search by keyword.

I am trying to organize my photo library by assigning key words in order to find pictures more efficiently. What I have discovered is that not all photos with the same assigned keyword is being retrieved when I do a search. Could it be the age of my Mac or a Photos issue?

Is the signature below your post still valid "OS X 10.11" El Capitan? If your system version is that old, the searching will work better, if you create a smart album for searching.

  • File > New Smart Album
  • Set the rule to "Keyword is ..."

This will usually find all photos with this keyword.

On newer system versions, macOS 10.14 Mojave or newer, you can use the filter to filter the photos you are currently using for keywords or combinations of keywords. How to use the Filters in Photos 4.0 - Apple Community
