Update to MacOS Big Sur 11.2.2

I have Mac Pro with the last version of Mac OS Big Sur. I tried to download the latest version which I think it is 11.2.2 but the update failed due to a connection error. I tried twice one using home router internet and one using 4G. In both cases I received a message that update failed due to internet connection.

Any suggestion to solve this !

Thank you,

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

I did find a way to solve this. I ran softwareupdate from the command line this way: "sudo softwareupdate -ia" It seems to take forever to finish downloading after about 65% but it does eventually finish. once you see it downloaded. exit terminal program and launch software update on your Mac from the apple menu system preferences. It should say restart now in the corner above the 11.2.2 update It will then install. not sure why it gets hung but seems to be a problem with Big Sur not the update system itself. good luck!

I think the issue is due to low available disk space. I had around 9 GB available space and during downloading gave me the same error. Then I freed up space to get around 30 GB and tried downloading again, This time download is going on successfully with out any error. May be free space around 20-25 GB would be sufficient. Just check it out

So been having trouble for week downloading 11.2.2/11.2.3 and was getting the same error msg everyone was getting the dreaded ""Download Failed" error one.

I was able to do the upgrade successfully by going into safe mode on two of the four laptops in scope for me:

Macbook Air 11 - A1465 2015 done successfully

Macbook Air 13 2017 done successfully

Still pending when I can get to:

Macbook Air 2018 pending when I can get to it

Macbook Air 12 2015 pending when I can get to it

Will report back when the last two are done, probably by Mon/Tues.

  • start the macbook using Safe mode
  • download macOS 11.2.2
  • the system will stop after 10 minutes into the appearance of the phrase: '10 minutes remaining'
  • press the black power button on your keyboard twice
  • it will ask you to enter your password like th normal startup of the system
  • after you entered the password, the system will automatically continue the unfinished download
  • the rest of the installation will be completed automatically.

I hope my English is good enough to help you understand how the system loading continuation process.

According to "macOS Big Sur 11.2.2 Problems: 5 Things to Know" by Adam Mills,

'If your macOS installation gets stuck, try powering your Mac off and on. This typically resolves the issue.

But I tried twice and installation still failed. Mine is MacBook Air purchase May 2020. I used the same technique that I used for installing macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 still failed.

I wonder if Adam Mills could offer some concrete workable solution to assist our installation. It is a pain of an *** to install operating system so frequently with problems in their installation.
