if this 2 factor thing is so important, why will you not have an option to get the code via email? I do not have the privilege of working with apple computers or devices and need to access my account from a windows pc browser. what do you suggest?
You can (and I recommend should) set up multiple trusted phone numbers. They can be Android phones, landlines, friends' or relatives' phones. See: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support
