Creating a music playlist from files on external drive

I have an external SSD with many music albums I bought. How can I create a music playlist on my iPad Air (4th gen) to play that music?

Hello carlosnino,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you have music files on an external hard drive that you would like to add as a playlist on your iPad Air.

You would first need to import these files to your music library on your computer. Depending on your OS, you will use Music or iTunes to import files. Check out the corresponding article below.

Import music from a computer to Music on Mac - macOS

Import media from a computer to iTunes on PC - Windows

You would then be able to sync your iPad with your computer. Select your OS from Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer.

Have a great day!
