Every time I go to the grocery store, my steps do not track. The rest of the day they’re always accurate but in that one store (my phone comes with me) it stops. What is going on?!

I figured it out... steps don’t track if you’re pushing a shopping cart
That is peculiar. What do you see in the Health app for those visits, under Activity > Steps > Show All Data > pick a date and time. Are you missing data points from your phone, watch, or both, for the duration of those visits?
Does it help if you start Indoors walking while visiting there?
Are you sure about the shopping cart? I’d run a test because everyone ive ever talked to has the same problem when you’re indoors
I have no issues with pushing a shopping cart.
Or walking with my hands in my pockets
What matters is the length of your step.
If you are shuffling along it may not count. If you are walking it will.

I have no issues getting steps with shopping cart as long as I'm walking normally. When you go have a step and stop then it will not count.
