connect 2010 MacBook Pro to new Iphone os?

I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro Mid 2010 running Mac OS Sierra version 10.12.6

It is my understanding that this is the limit of new software that will work on this machine.

Is that correct? Or can it be updated in some way to connect to iPhone with new OS?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.12

No, there is no computer who's limit is Sierra.

Any computer that can run Sierra, can also run High Sierra, which should allow it to get a more up to date iTunes Version, which in turn would allow it to connect to an iOS device running the current iOS 14.4 version.
