How do I find an exact match in Notes?

When I search for "How to find all photos on your Mac", using the quotes I get three totally unrelated notes none of which contain "photos" or "Mac". Results: Challah (5 min bread book) - Veggie Burger Buns; Dom's Kefir FAQ in-site; and BC_Jameson.

Thank you.

Hi ajp_Bear_WV,

Thanks so much for keeping us updated on what you found. It sounds as though your Mac hadn't completed a full Spotlight index of your existing notes, and it has since added the specific note you were searching for to the index, so that it appears in search results. While the process of indexing files and data is typically completed quickly and automatically, it may take a short time to complete after a significant change, such as after a software update.

If you should experience any similar issue searching for other items on your Mac, we can recommend rebuilding the Spotlight index manually following the steps in this guide:

Hi ajp_Bear_WV,

We appreciate you reaching out through Apple Support Communities, and are glad to help in any way we can.

To ensure we understand exactly what's going on, let us know more about this behavior you're seeing. Are you able to manually locate a note that has this specific text you're searching for?

We'd also like to clarify the following: Are you only seeing the three search results when performing this search, or are you seeing other notes in addition to the three unrelated notes that show up?

In the search results, do you see some words or letters highlighted in yellow text? These yellow portions represent the part of the note that matched your search terms, and can help explain why certain notes appear in relation to your search terms.

The following guide has a bit more information about searching in Notes:

Thank you, SnickZ.

Today when I did the search to answer your question, my note titled "How to find all photos on your Mac" actually DID show up as well as the other three notes.

When I did this exact same search on February 26th, the only the three unrelated notes displayed. The note with the title that matched the search phase did Not display. As for the yellow highlighting, the results are as follows: "Dom's Kefir FAQ in-site" no highlighting at all; "BC_Jameson" highlighted the "on"; in Jameson, and "Challah (5 min bread book) - Veggie Burger Buns" had the "all" in challah highlighted.

Thank you for the link. I read that page before posting my issue.

Thank you again. I'm assuming this is just a glitch.

I have transitioned from Evernote and miss the tag feature and the more detailed search feature. Is there anywhere I can "Me too" others recommendations for these features? For example be to able to search for "x" but exclude "y."
