Thank you for the reply, SnickZ. i have a mid-2010 Mac PRO (what made me mad is i ordered it brand new in 2012 IN PERSEON from the apple store; they sent a "custom made one" to me, which was on order). When i got it home and turned it on and checked the model # and stats a week or so later, i found that they had sold me a MID-2010 model!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRR i was way too backed up so i didnt do anything about it. needless to say, i probably will run into problems if i upgrade; and i KNOW that a bunch of programs that i work in will no doubtedly not work.
I ended up downloading the free trial of malware bytes. Still debating on whether or not to keep it or not. it bogs my system down when it's running, but it DID clear up the problem that i was having.
i think that this is such BULL$H#T that apple doesn't supply these kind of programs for FREE to people who buy their VERY EXPENSIVE PRODUCTS.... but that's just me (now retired and on a fixed income). Thanks again for your reply. i am grateful that there are folks out there like you who can help us novices.
