Ask to Buy - one apple device

We only have one apple device in the house which is signed in under my child's account. When we click on the "ask to buy" button, we do not see a notification anywhere.

How would I go about getting the "approval" notification to show up?

I have a Windows PC and have signed in to iTunes on my account, however it doesn't seem like I can get the notification for approval on a Windows machine, is that correct?

I also have an Android phone however, I am assuming it's the same issue as the Windows PC.

Apologies if this issue has been answered in a different thread, I've tried looking but couldn't find a solution.
