MagSafe Duo Charger Discolouration

Update: Since purchasing a new MagSafe Duo Charger, after unboxing it and using it to charge my iPhone 12. After approximately 15 minutes on the charger, I took my phone off and noticed the discolouration had already formed. Now, one week since purchase, the ring looks the exact same as the original charger.

Any ideas?

I'm currently aware of the issue where the MagSafe charger leaves a ring on the iPhone case, but not the charger itself changing colour (and being irreversible, unlike just wiping the mark off the phone case).

Perhaps you could share an article that has pointed out this issue?

The charger still works fine, it's just cosmetic - which still bothers me haha. I'll continue to use the charger until it approaches one year since purchase and then simply get a replacement under Apple's one-year limited warranty as it's covered under that.

Upon contacting Apple support they advised me that the discolouration was not normal and that I should return the product for a refund/replacement.
