new Air M1 Battery Condition Service Recommended

Hello folks, same issue for me. Let me share what I discovered.

System Information -> Power (Maximum Capacity: 100%)
My old MacBook Pro 2020 (Full Charge Capcity (mAh) : 4665)
For M1 there is no Full Charge Capcity (mAh) instead that Maximum Capacity in %
Going forward and run in terminal: ioreg -w 0 -f -r -c AppleSmartBattery
And as you see there are no issues as well
Run Apple diagnostic: no issues
By the way forgot to mention, I did not start with clean instal when had bought MacBook Air m1. I run through 'Assistance Migration' and restored from backup of my MacBook Pro 2020 on Intel

Conclusions: Looks like Alert triggered/triggering by the fact that it is looking in the field Maximum Capacity which is in % but parsing it as field in mAh. Hope Apple will fix that in 11.3 (in 11.2.1 not fixed)

FWIW, take it to an Apple service center and have them check it out.

Like everything else these days, a battery in a laptop isn't just a battery

anymore.

It has multiple sensors and some component embedded in it with

serial number and who knows what else. It could be one of

these items are reporting a fail but is not tested in the basic built in

diagnostics test.

Install MacOS from scratch follow https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211983
* if you would like to restore from backup: Run Migration Assistant but don not migrate `Settings` from the backup

Not sure if this will work on the M1 chip - Power Down. Press Power Button and HOLD for 10 seconds and do this 3 times in a row. Kind of like a SMC but M1 does not have SMC of NVRAM

So far cannot, it’s my working laptop and so far don’t have by what substitute when they will bring it up for any kind of checks for at least 2weeks. That’s why wondering is it just software bug based on my investigation or hardware issue.

Mine produced in Sep 2020 btw
