Is there a fix for the Apple adapter?

So, I’m using an adapter with my headphones but recently the audio started giving problems. There’s either no sound coming from it or I’m hearing static. Airplay output says that the audio was playing through ‘Dock Speaker’ I’m not sure if that’s normal for headphones connected to an adapter. The charging port is working perfectly fine just the audio is messed up. I used the headphones on numerous devices and the audio is fine, I’ve also tried different headphones with the adapter and it’s the same problem. I’ve cleaned out all debris but it’s still not working. I’m hoping there’s a fix because I bought the adapter not even one month ago and they are pretty expensive.
