how can i send photos as an attached file?

I need to send photos from my MacBook Air to my insurance and I can't seem to drag the photos to desktop to send or open Photos and send. I have created an album with the photos.

Select photos and drag/drop them into the body of an email, they’ll be sent as attachments.
