iMessages

I updated to Big Sur today and now iMessage doesn't work. After signing in, I keep getting this the error message "unknown error occurred". iMessage preferences windows does not open. iMessage is also not listed under the services using my iCloud account. I re-installed macOS Big Sur and it did not resolve my issue. I've even restarted my Mac several time and this issue does not resolve
