Photo Booth Video Glitch

When I am recording video through the Photo Booth app on my MacBook Air about every 20 seconds the screen goes black for a solid second then returns and does this throughout the full 2-5 minute videos. I have tried restarting Photo Booth and my computer but neither have worked and I cannot seem to figure out why this is happening. I am wondering if it has something to do with the latest OS update. I appreciate any help or ideas to fix this glitch.
