configurable memory

I am looking at a new Mac mini with m1 chip and "configurable" memory.

Does this mean that a technician is required to upgrade the RAM memory

or are there slots that I can swap out memory chips?

If it requires a technician and a soldering gun, how much am

I looking at cost wise?

I have a mini already but most of my machines are approaching

the state of not being upgradeable. So this is my most economical

bridge to the future Mac wise. I use it mostly for reading mail, internet

and doing development programming with text editor, FTP client,

builtin Apache server. In general the only way to upgrade Apache is

to get a newer operating system version.
