I had to get a new Apple ID because I forgot my old password and I locked my account. I am trying to connect my watch to my phone but I cant because it is still associated with the old ID. I have done a reset on the phone. I am not sure what else to do

To remove your old apple id;
To unpair and erase watch and remove Activation Lock.
On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your old Apple ID.
Go to Find Iphone.
Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.
Click Erase Apple Watch.
Select Next until the device is erased.
Click the remove button next to your Apple Watch.
