Why are OneDrive folders and files read only in Files app? How do I fix?
iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi
Having checked again, I now have the “read only” flag within the Files App.
I suggest that you either use the OneDrive App, or one of the many File Manager Apps (such as FileBrowser - Document Manager or File Browser Pro) that are available from the App Store until this problem is properly resolved by Microsoft.
These links may be helpful; whilst both versions offer significant flexibility and direct access to many cloud and storage devices - and offer full API integration with the native Files App - the Pro” version is perhaps the more flexible choice. I use it myself - and can recommend it.

I’m not talking about the iOS or iPadOS Files App. I am talking about MicroSoft’s own OneDrive App, which currently works just fine for read/write access to OneDrive files.

Ensure that you have updated your OneDrive App to its latest version. The App has recently been updated to address a known issue with file corruption - which Microsoft initially mitigated by making files read-only.
Until recent days, Microsoft have continued to maintain OneDrive in read-only. This restriction has now been lifted (I verified access myself).
Ensure that your OneDrive App has been updated to the current version (v12.21) and that you a signed-in to your MS account. A restart of the iPad is also recommended.
With the App updated and MS account credentials verified, you should now have no difficulties saving files from the native Files App and MS OneDrive App.
Microsoft have recently placed OneDrive access from the native Files App to Read Only - as illustrated at the bottom of the above screenshot. This restriction has been variously removed and reapplied over recent weeks.

Okay duly noted on this, I’ll try to wait for the fix on OneDrive. If in case I can’t wait anymore I’ll download the Pro App you recommend. I am very grateful for your extensive help ^_^
You are very welcome. This issue has been inconvenient for many - but for those that are affected, there are multiple workarounds pending Microsoft making a permanent fix available to all.
Fully understood and not in dispute - and this is, in part, the very point being made in this and many similar threads. The current workaround is to use the OneDrive App itself to overcome the current “read only” limitation within Files. This, for many, is adequate.
For those that still want to use OneDrive integration with the native Files App, it is currently necessary to use a third party App - such as that suggested. This workaround restores the Files integration, but without being limited to “read only”.

Files in OneDrive for iOS app show as read only [PENDING]
Last Updated: 17 February 2021
ISSUE
The OneDrive iOS team has been investigating feedback of lost writes made from the iOS Files App. We’re actively working on improving our Files App experience and have temporarily set it in read only mode.
RELEASE PENDING
Once the fix has been released, rollout will start with App Version 12.18+ on iOS and iPadOS devices.
I re-installed both apps and restarted my Ipad several times, unfortunately I’m still having the same problem. Please help
I’m still having this problem even though I tried re-installing the app. Any other suggestions would be great.
Okay, thankyou for your replies :D have a great day!

The MS OneDrive app is free and works just fine. No read only restrictions with it.
