QuickTime Player Pause Option missing

Hi! I’m on a MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur and I noticed that the function to pause while recording in QuickTime (not screen recording), is no longer available. It used to give the option while recording by hovering the mouse over the record button and press the option key and it would change to the pause button. It no longer does that. I really loved having this option as it was super useful and hopefully it’s still available and I just am not seeing it. I do not have the touchbar on my MacBook. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

We understand you're wanting to pause when recording with QuickTime Player, and we'd like to see if we can assist.

Get started with the detail below from Record a movie in QuickTime Player on Mac:

"To pause recording, Option-click the Record button; click it again to resume recording."

If you aren't seeing this option, quit QuickTime Player and try again.

Also, restart your MacBook Pro and test again: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac
