What is SOCD report detected: (AP watchdog expired)?

Tried to exchange the M1 with Apple support in Australia but the problem started about 3-4 weeks after the purchase date & here the full refund period is only 2 weeks.

Then filed a complaint with state consumer affairs who told me Apple were very difficult to deal with & that they would drag the process out.

I am self employed & just dont have the time to stop work & go through the motions, when it reboots I go back to a 10 year old i7 mini which runs very hot but still works.

Yesterday I up dated my M1 mini to Monterey & 4 hours later it rebooted, so they have not  fixed the problem. 

I decided to ditch the Mini now and maybe try the MBP 16" now that it is is out with the Max chip. The M1 MBP don't seem to have the same issues as the mini. I decided to check with apple to see what they would give me on trade in for my Mini (1TB 16Memory Late 2020) that I bought new 6 months ago. They offered $700 trade value for a less than 6 month old machine that cost me around $1800. And this was if I was purchasing a 3k+ machine. lmao

Mine just did same a few minutes ago. Not sure what to do. It restarted but, this is like something on a Mac from the 1980s!

same here - MacBook Air M1, just bought a week ago ...

BOOM. "SOCD report detected: (AP watchdog expired)" While using Carbon Copy Cloner, doing nothing else. My external monitor got a slight greenish tint (I think), then rebooted. Filed a report, too.

Same issue. Computer restarts randomly. Help! Can't have this happening....

This started happening for me on the macOS 11.3.1 update, and happens every few days, or sometimes multiple times a day. Really annoying!

This happened again tonight in the middle of a Zoom meeting. Not much else. It happened at least three times recently, spanning several updates. Apple needs to fix this.

No, it was happening with previous versions as well.

It happened twice to my mac mini m1. First time was 5 months ago. Second time today.

Just occurred to me on my MacBook Pro (13 in. M1, 2020) about an hour ago. Screen went black and immediately shut down. I didn't have anything external connected except the charging cord.

I experienced this for the first time last night while watching HBOmax on a chrome browser. Upon restart, my trackpad would not work or even be recognized until I hard wired it to my Mac mini M1
