Battery life

My battery just started this last night on my iPhone 7 Plus. It was reading 65% charged and I picked it up and took a picture and it suddenly powered off. I turned back on while plugged in and it came back on reading 65% and then suddenly dropped to 10%. This keeps happening over and over. When I plug it in it starts charging up pretty fast, faster than normal. 1st time having this issue. Is it time for an upgrade or is this fixable?

Hello!

Check your battery health by opening Settings > Battery > Battery Health

If the maximum capacity is below 80% you have three options:

  1. Just deal with it
  2. Get a battery replacement. More information can you find here.
  3. Get a battery-pack.

One more question? I checked into battery replacement and instructions said if there are any cracks in screen that will need to be fixed too before battery replacement. T or F? I know that’s pretty pricey. I’m on the Next plan and up for an upgrade, thinking possibly that route. What am I looking at on a fix now? $49 battery + cracked screen?

Well, knowing that the screen replacement for an iPhone 7+ is (in US Apple Stores, tax excluded, work included) $169, and knowing that iPhone 7+ was released in 2016 (almost 5 years ago), I would think about a new device.

But it's only my opinion and... it depends on your needs and/or on your wallet :)
