Why are Discord and 8x8 Work sending notifications with Do-Not-Disturb on?

I have no idea what is going on. I may be missing something, but I thought DND only allowed phone calls from your Favorites. Yet, these two apps are able to send me notifications while I'm working on my MacBook Pro with DND enabled.

Has anyone else experienced this? Restarting the laptop and the apps has not worked.

Hi ajrt2118,

Do Not Disturb generally applies to apps listed in System Preferences > Notifications. If these apps aren't present there, we recommend providing feedback to the app developer to let them know this a feature you'd like to see in the future.

If the apps are open, and deliver their own notifications outside of Notification Center, you may be able to receive them even with Do Not Disturb enabled, as they're being delivered through the app, rather than through macOS or Notification Center.

You may be able to temporarily disable notifications from the app, by ensuring you have quit it completely using the steps found here: Quit apps on Mac

If you need additional assistance specific to these two apps, working directly with the developer will be the best next step.

Take care!

Hi ajrt2118,

We understand you're receiving notifications from a couple of your apps, while Do Not Disturb is enabled on your Mac.

Are the notifications you're seeing coming from the Notification Center, or are they coming up in the app themselves?

You can find additional information about Do Not Disturb and what to expect, here: Use Do Not Disturb on your Mac

If the notifications seem to be coming from the apps, try quitting the apps to see whether the behavior persists. Quit apps on Mac.

Cheers!

Thanks for clarifying ajrt2118,

If the notifications are coming from the apps themselves, contacting the app developer will be the best way to proceed. They'll be the most familiar with software the offer for Mac, and the options and customizations available for it.

The following page offers guidance you can use to help you connect with them: How to contact an app developer

Cheers!
