My Preferences > Users and groups > Login items box is empty, but I'm still getting apps opening at start up, including Zoom, Activity Monitor, and Spotify.
I'm running Big Sur 1.2.2 on my desktop Mac.
Any ideas, anyone?

It seems like you're trying to get help with login items and we can help.
You did right to check for their login options. Is it possible those apps were open when you shut down?

Spotify > Preferences > Show Advanced Settings. Set "Startup and Window Behaviour" to "No".
That has helped, thanks, except for Spotify, which insists on appearing on the taskbar even after I’ve quit it. I can’t find anything in Spotify preferences to help.
