I do I move iMovie files (mp4 and movie files) from iMac to iPad
iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13
Control-click on the movie's icon and do a File/Share/AirDrop. The AirDrop feature must be activated on both devices and the devices must be closer than 30 feet apart.

Once I understood, it worked like a charm. I can now show real estate videos on my phone.
