Apple Watch disconnecting

Every time i’ve gone to do the beginner yoga workout on Apple Fitness, it says my watch must be unlocked and have bluetooth on to connect. Well, it’s unlocked and bluetooth on and it won’t connect to my phone for the workout. If by some miracle I get it to connect to my phone it disconnects in the middle of it even though i haven’t locked it or turned bluetooth off!
