Ethernet capped at 100Mbps

I have a 13 inch 2017 MacBook Pro without Touchscreen. I have 3 different USB-C hubs and each says they do 1 GB Ethernet. When I connect each to my MacBook Pro, the default configuration is 100BaseT Automatic. I change it to manual and it says it's set to 1000BaseT, but the speed doesn't increase. Every test results in between 85 and 92 Mbps download speed. It never exceeds 100 Mbps.

I tested the cable and the Internet connection. At this time, my service is limited to 150 Mbps download. I can get 150 Mbps over Ethernet when I plug the cable into a Windows PC.

Why can't I get 1000BaseT to work with the MacBook Pro? I'm not going to upgrade my Internet connection until I can get this working.

Hi Mike,

It seems you're having some trouble with the network speeds on your Thunderbolt docks and we want help.

Have you tried using an adapter like this one sold on the Apple Store?

The Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

If you only have used the docks, it might be helpful to send us the information for the dock you're using and we can try to check and see if there's any software or settings the manufacturer might recommend to allow Gigabit connectivity.

Actually, I tried using the Belkin USB-C + Power adapter and then I contacted Belkin support. It appears it only uses the USB-C interface for speed. I have an Iogear USBC Docking Station with PD Pass Thru GUD3C02. Both auto-negotiated to 100BaseT. (I have 2 others but I can't find the specific info on them.)

All of the first 3 docks were purchased primarily for USB and Video. Now that I want to use faster Ethernet, none seems to work. It appears that anything using the USB-C interface rather than Thunderbolt 3 will only work at 100BaseT, even if I manually change the settings.

Any help would be appreciated. Can you confirm that the Belkin above will work at speeds greater than 100 Mbps? I'm getting a little tired trying other devices.
