Mid 2011 iMac and Mac Mini

I have a 27 in mid-2011iMac that works fine, but I can't upgrade the OS and some of my apps. If I bought a new MacMini, could I use the old iMac as a display and a hard drive?

Upgrade to what? I have a 2013 macbook pro 15", and a 2013 imac 27". I'm going to consolidate and get just one new 2022 machine. Mostly used at home for photography. Photoshop is having a problem with graphics and I don't want to change the card or have a bolt on. Could I use the Imac screen as a big screen off a new MacBook air or Macbook pro? I have seen something about incompatibilty of new MacBooks with old screens. And I just can't decide which machine to change to!

Imac and mac mini Hey! Im tryin’ to put together a smaller home-producing spot and just got an mac mini to upgrade from my imac from 2010. 2 questions tho. my Imac 2010 cant runt logic bc it dont have the requirements for the further updates. Is this something you can fix or do i have to upgrade my computer as im suspecting. Is it possible to use my imac 2010 as the screen for mac mini? Or do i also need a new screen. peace!

Mac mini as an upgrade for an older iMac I have a 2012 27-inch iMac. Running High Sierra 10.13.6. In lieu of buying a new iMac could I buy a mac mini instead and just use my current iMac's display and my wireless keyboard and mouse to effectively upgrade?

I assume by "new MacMini" you mean an M1?

Sorry, sadly the M1 macs do not support Target Display Mode, which is how this idea would normally work.
