Mac Pro 2019 7.1 Wifi Card Removal/Replacement

Hello community,

I am curious as to whether the 2019 Mac Pro 7.1 comes with a built in wifi-card. If it does, is it possible to completely remove the card so that wi-fi is not an option (and not just disable the wifi settings).

Thanks!

OWC also posted a tear-down, and also failed to identify a discrete wireless module. They show all the parts on a table and closeup of the mainboard. No discrete wireless card.

This may mean that to get Wi-Fi 6 on this machine, we would have to look to ThunderBolt adapters or PCIe cards.

But be sure to look closely at its 10G Ethernet capabilities, that is TWO ports of (up to) 10Gigabit-Ethernet over-copper, which is way faster than the best Wi-Fi. Using 'good' cables without being too sloppy can easily provide high speeds at modest cable lengths, and following all the rules using the best cables and no 'cheats' -- between 55 meters and the full 100 meters.

Yes, it does come with a built- in wifi and bluetooth card.. yes it is possible to remove the wifi card... but that would probably disable Bluetooth as well.. do you REALLY want to do that? Wouldn’t it just be easier to go to system preferences>> network and turn off the wifi and trash any wifi networks u might have set up.... and just use it over Ethernet. When u disable the wifi, set the location to off.. as for removing the card itself, you should refer to your Mac Pro 2019 manual..

Desktop Macs have generally had a discrete wireless card with antenna wires from the chassis clipped onto it. But that is not a given -- the 2013 MacPro had it all on one module near the fan..

"The usual source" of step by step repair guides has only posted a cursory tear-down, during which they did not identify a discrete wireless card or discrete antenna wires. But that is not definitive.
