It cannot over WiFi, but directly connected to Ethernet using this adapter: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD463LL/A/thunderbolt-to-gigabit-ethernet-adapter, and your Internet Service Provider offers 1 GB/s speeds, and you subscribed to it, you should get somewhat near those speeds using ethernet.
