Erasing Ipad to get rid of viruses

I was wondering if erasing my whole iPad would get rid of any viruses

Due to the system architecture of iOS/iPadOS, providing that you have not attempted to jailbreak your device - or have bypassed protections by side-loading third-Apps (if you don’t know what this is, then don’t worry about it) - then it is highly unlikely that your device will actually have been infected with a virus or other malware.

As to your specific question - and whilst the likelihood of malware infection is very remote - a Factory Restore will perform a crypto-erase of the entire filesystem; a fresh copy of the most recent version of iOS/iPadOS supported by the device will also be installed. No data (or malware) will survive this process.
