iPhone name appearing in bluetooth as previous owner's iPhone name?

My phone is my brother's old iPhone, and even though I changed the name on the device (Settings>General>About>Name) ages ago to my name it still shows up as my brother's name when connecting to other things via Bluetooth. What's up with that? In all other places I've seen (i.e. in Finder sidebar) it correctly shows my updated name.

Hello shelbyweldon,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand you are looking for some help with changing the way the name of your iPhone looks when connecting to other devices. We are happy to provide some guidance.

You've done a good job so far with changing the name of your device in Settings so it shows up correctly in Finder. When you connect your iPhone to your Mac using Bluetooth, does it show a different name there? You can change the way the name of the device shows up when connecting it to other devices by following the steps listed in the following article, in the section titled "Rename a Bluetooth accessory on your Mac":

Change the name of a Bluetooth accessory

What other devices that you connect with does it show the name of your iPhone incorrectly? Are you able to change the way those Bluetooth devices remember the iPhone name?

Keep us updated on how it goes or if you have any questions. We hope this information helps.

Best Regards.
