Gabrielle,

Happy to hear back from you.

Thanks for taking a look over those steps. If you're not finding the specific website in the Search field, then it may be cleared already.

Let's see if this happens with a different browser. Since you mentioned this only seems to be happening with the links shared under the Support tab in About This Mac, we'll need to change the default browser temporarily to test this out.

To do this, close the About This Mac window if it's still open. Then, navigate to System Preferences > General > Default web browser, and set this to another browser you have installed other than Safari. If you don't have another browser installed, go to the Mac App Store and download one for free, like Google Chrome for example.

Once you have the default browser changed, open About This Mac once again and navigate to the Support tab to open one or more of the listed links there (test more than one please). Let us know if the same redirect continues. This will help us identify if there is a break in the links from that section in About This Mac, or if it's an issue with Safari itself saving the old website data.

Thanks!

Hey there Gabrielle,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand Safari is having an issue opening a page because too many redirects occurred. We'd like to help out.

You did a great job taking the step to clear Website Data from Safari. This article discusses the issue you are experiencing in more details: If Safari can't open the page because too many redirects occurred. Make sure you use the Search field to remove the data from the page that is experiencing the redirect (step 4).

"If a webpage redirects too many times, it might have been set up in a way that is causing a redirect loop. In that case, the owner of the page will need to correct the issue."

Best regards.

Gabrielle,

Thanks for giving that a go.

If you haven't already, you can take the same steps as you did initially to set Safari back up as your default browser now. Then, force quit any running browser that you might have open: How to force an app to quit on your Mac. Next, restart your Mac: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac

Once your Mac is powered back on, log into your normal user account and test those links once again. If the issue still remains, being that it occurs in multiple browsers and we're not being able to resolve it through the steps in the article we initially shared, we'll want to have Apple explore this a bit further to confirm next steps.

Hi Sharon

Thank you for this it was helpful but has not solved my problem for two reasons:-

One, I can't work out how to search for the redirecting website and,

two, the problem arises only when I am trying to look at specifications under the about this Mac, support field. All the other tabs work just fine. Here is a screen shot of the message.

Please can you give me any further pointers or tips?

All the best

Gabrielle
