Apple TV+ will not work on Apple TV (1st or 2nd generation).

Apple TV+ will work on Apple TV (3rd generation) with Apple TV Software 7.3 or later.

If you have an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) and two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, then you may be asked to type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field. Additionally, there is a time limit, after which the code becomes invalid.


Try this: First enter the characters of your password (do not submit yet), then manually request a new verification code, then append that code to the password (no spaces or other separating characters), and then submit. That should help you get passed the time limit.

I mean I can’t seem to log in on my appletv through my tv like I used to. I have apple+ working on my phones no problem. But when I try to give my iTunes password through my tv it doesn’t connect. I can get to Apple TV+ programming but when I try to select a show and press play I get a verification code from my phone that says Apple ID requesting sign in and my screen goes black and nowhere to put in the verification code. Soooo frustrating.

I can mirror Apple TV+ from my phone no problem, but not the point.
