Macintosh HD missing in utility

The only thing listed is Mac OS base system in disk utility.

problem started with MB pro 2017 freezing/rebooting randomly while on Catalina. Eventually it stopped booting and gave the question mark folder. I went into recovery to and decided to boot from time machine recovery on usb. Somehow mac hd was deleted and created instead on usb drive.

Unable to to reinstall OS since there’s no disk to install on now.

Is there a way to create a new Macintosh HD? Base system is all I have.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Thanks for responding. I’ve read quite a few posts and would’ve attempted that but the drive is no longer there to erase. Any other suggestions?

Replace the drive.
