Big Sur app crashes and permissions problems

When is apple going to fix these problems? must have sent a 100 app crash reports like this one.

All started with BIG SUR, Apple is now like the old Microsoft, reason I switched years ago.

This is only one example of a crash. they will crash on start up and then if I restart them again they usually work, complete total waste of time!

Have removed and installed some of these apps, that is not the problem it is a core issue in the BIG SUR opsys as far as I can tell.

Does anyone else have this problem, if so any solution?

Well, I have five different Macs running Big Sur, 4 Intel and 1 M1. I have none of the problems you are having. However, I'm not running an outdated version of Parallels nor do I have CleanMyMac installed on any of them. I guess I am lucky.

There is no reason to ever install or run any 3rd party "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus, VPN or security apps on your Mac.  This user tip describes what you need to know and do in order to protect your Mac: Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community

Uninstall all such apps according to the developer's instructions.

i can't confirm the problem has anything to do with parallels as i don't use it. however, it has been proven in this forum (every day) that clean my mac WILL cause issues such as the ones you are having. removing it, more often than not, resolves those issues. as far as everything working properly before upgrading to big sur, the improved security of the completely new OS has finally caught up with CMM and you are now seeing the issues that that crapware causes. spend some time perusing these forums and you will see many posts of what i'm saying. if you are worried about security, you should read Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community. it's such an informative article that apple should include a copy of it with every new mac they sell.

like i said it many applications! when i start parallels a 2nd time after crash works fine! google the internet if you are interested in this problem, tons of reports on app crashes and permissions issues. if you don’t have any then you are lucky and should not reply to this post. i want people who have these problems to response with how they solved them thanks for your input.

While I don't have a problem with app crashes, I have run across a permissions problem. There's a Library folder that I hadn't noticed in my Documents folder before. It has a small "Do Not Enter" icon at the bottom.

When I do try to open it I get an error that I don't have permission.

I am the admin & only user on my system. What would cause me to not have permission to open a random file?

No need to uninstall anything. Apple released a new update and it fixed the ipvanish crashing issues. For cleanmymac just needed to add it to the apple firewall as accepting connections.

I never asked for a recommendation on what software I can or can not run. I wanted a solution to apps crashing. Fixed.

With the new apple update my computer also boots faster.

Like I said from the beginning of the thread there was something wrong with BigSur and for now it appears to be resolved.

That’s for your feedback.

VPN, office for Mac, and parallels are all required for what I do. All were crashing. Antivirus is primarily because I need to run windows in parallels. While it would be nice to live in an apple only world it is just not the case for me.

As an additional piece of info, I also added the crashing apps to trusted files in Integro virus scanner. All the things that I have changed along with the apple update have resolved the problems. This info is for those who choose to have a suboptimal setup and go against your recommendations.

Is the Anti Virus software installed in the Windows parallel volume as well? If so it shouldn't be necessary to have it installed in the MacOS volume also, unless having it in both volumes is a requirement from your employer.

Are you required to have CleanMyMac installed also. Do a search in the Big Sur, iMac and Catalina forums for cleanmymac and you'll find out why we're not big on it.
