Sound check not working on iPhone

Why does sound check not work on the iPhone but works fine on iTunes? I have the latest update iOS & iTunes. I tried turning on & off souncheck many times but still the volumes are all over the place. Very frustrating. This only started happening ever since I updated to the latest iOS.

iPhone 6s, iOS 14

I follow the above directions & the Issue is still there. The EQ works fine But sound check doesn’t work on my iPhones. Tried 3 different iPhones & 1 iPod nano and still no luck. Works fine on iTunes. I have my own mp3 & aac collections from different sources. I did a batch sound check on iTunes. After that I transferred them all to my iPhone. Turn on sound check & still does not work. Some music are too loud & some are too quiet. Now my issue here is Soundcheck only works if iTunes encodes my music to a lossy file within iTunes itself. But my years of mp3/aac collections from other sources are not capable of using the souncheck function. It had worked before but recently it just stops ever since the new update. I don’t really want to encode an already lossy audio to another lossy audio within iTunes in order to have sound check work again. Very frustrating 😔

Hello Djtek184,

Thanks for reaching out to us for support. It’s never fun when sound check on your iPhone is not working as expected on your device, and we are going to do everything we can to help you. When you have a free moment, please give the steps below a try:

1 - Quit the Music app and Settings on your iPhone with these steps: How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

2 - Restart your iPhone.

3 - Try engaging Sound Check again.

4 - If there is still no change with Sound Check, see if any of the equalizers change the sound quality as mentioned here: Change the way music sounds on iPhone.

If you’re still experiencing the same problem after completing the steps above, and there is no change with the EQ settings, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Cheers!
